Now, these are some rules to make affirmative, negative and interrogative sentences in the simple past tense in English language that you should know.
The auxiliary verb "to do" is conjugated in the past tense as follows:
HE / SHE / IT DID
Remember: All verbs are conjugated for all the personal pronouns subjects in the same way in the past simple tense, but there is an exception with the verb "to Be". It changes in the first and third persons of singular.
Look at the next affirmative sentence as an example:
"You slept at home last night"

SUBJECT + DIDN´T + verb-inf + COMPLEMENTS
Example: You didn´t sleep at home last night.
DID + SUBJECT + verb-inf + COMPLEMENTS ?
