FORMING PAST SIMPLE TENSE IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Hi There!!!

How is it going?

You´ll be able to learn how to use the past simple tense in English language.

Just, read the next information below.

Now, these are some rules to make affirmative, negative and interrogative sentences in the simple past tense in English language that you should know.

The auxiliary verb "to do" is conjugated in the past tense as follows:

I  DID
YOU  DID
HE / SHE / IT  DID
WE  DID
YOU  DID
THEY  DID

Remember: All verbs are conjugated for all the personal pronouns subjects in the same way in the past simple tense, but there is an exception with the verb "to Be".
It changes in the first and third persons of singular.

Look at the next affirmative sentence as an example:

"You slept at home last night"

Now, pay attention how to form negative and interrogative sentences.

NEGATIVE SENTENCE

SUBJECT + DIDN´T + verb-inf + COMPLEMENTS

Example:
You didn´t sleep at home last night.

INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE

DID + SUBJECT + verb-inf + COMPLEMENTS ?

Example:
Did you sleep at home last night?

SHORT ANSWERS

Yes, SUBJECT + did
No, SUBJECT + didn´t

Example:

Yes, You did
No, she didn´t
