SPENDING A DAY AT THE BEACH STORY - READING COMPREHENSION WORKSHEET

Hi there!!!

What's up?

It's time to read the following story about a boy named Tommy.

This is a reading comprehension activity to improve the reading and writing skills in english language.

SPENDING A DAY AT THE BEACH

Once upon a time, during a bright and sunny summer day, there was a cheerful boy named Tommy. Tommy was excited because his family was going to spend the day at the beach. He loved the beach because it was always full of fun and adventure.

As soon as they arrived, Tommy could feel the warm sand beneath his feet. He kicked off his shoes and ran towards the water, feeling the cool breeze on his face. The sky was a beautiful shade of blue, with fluffy clouds floating lazily above.

Tommy's family spread out their colourful beach towels and set up a big umbrella to provide shade from the sun. Tommy's little sister, Lily, immediately started building a sandcastle with her bucket and spade. Tommy decided to join her and together they built the biggest sandcastle they had ever seen. They added seashells and seaweed to decorate it, making it look like a magical castle from a storybook.

After building the sandcastle, Tommy and Lily went for a walk along the shore. They searched for seashells and colourful rocks, giggling and laughing as they discovered treasures hidden in the sand. Tommy found a shiny seashell that he decided to keep as a souvenir of their beach adventure.

As they walked, Tommy spotted a group of children playing beach volleyball. He asked his parents if he could join in, and they happily agreed. Tommy ran towards the group and soon found himself diving and jumping to hit the ball over the net. It was so much fun, and he made new friends while playing.

After playing volleyball, Tommy felt hungry. His mum had packed a picnic basket full of delicious sandwiches, fruits, and snacks. They spread out a picnic blanket on the sand and enjoyed a tasty lunch together. Tommy's favourite part was the juicy watermelon slices that cooled him down in the hot sun.

After lunch, Tommy and Lily begged their parents to let them go for a swim in the sparkling blue sea. They put on their colourful swimsuits and splashed into the cool water, feeling refreshed and happy. Tommy loved swimming and diving through the waves, pretending to be a brave pirate searching for treasure.

As the afternoon wore on, Tommy and his family enjoyed building sandcastles, playing games, and soaking up the warm sunshine. They flew a colourful kite in the breeze and collected seashells to take home as souvenirs of their wonderful day at the beach.

As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the horizon, Tommy and his family gathered their belongings and said goodbye to the beach. They walked back to their car, tired but happy after a day filled with laughter, adventure, and fun.

As they drove home, Tommy looked out of the window at the fading sunlight and smiled. He knew that he would always cherish the memories of their special day at the beach, and he couldn't wait to come back again soon.

OLIVER AND LILY'S FOOD ADVENTURE STORY - READING COMPREHENSION WORKSHEET

Hi there!!!

What's up?

It's time to read the following story about eating healthy food is better than eating unhealthy one.

This is a reading comprehension activity to improve the reading and writing skills in english language.

OLIVER & LILY'S

FOOD ADVENTURE

In a cozy little village nestled between green hills and meadows, two best friends named Oliver and Lily live. They are both six years old and love playing outside in the sunshine.

Oliver and Lily are inseparable. They go to the same school, play in the same park, and share everything, including their love for food. However, there is something about their food choices that isn't quite right.

Every day, Oliver and Lily munch on crisps, chocolate bars, and fizzy drinks. They think these snacks are yummy, but they don't know that too much of them isn't good for their bodies.

One sunny morning, Oliver and Lily decide to go on an adventure in the nearby forest. They pack their favourite snacks and skip along the winding path, giggling and chatting all the way.

As they venture deeper into the forest, they stumble upon a magical clearing filled with colourful fruits and vegetables. It's like nothing they have ever seen before!

"Lily, look at all these fruits and veggies!" exclaims Oliver, his eyes wide with wonder.

Lily gasps in amazement. "Wow, they look so juicy and delicious!"

Curious and excited, Oliver and Lily approach the array of fruits and vegetables. There are plump strawberries, crunchy carrots, juicy apples, and so much more.

"I've never tried fruits and veggies like these before," says Lily, reaching out to touch a shiny apple.

Oliver nods in agreement. "Me neither. But they look so fresh and yummy!"

Just as they are about to pick some fruits and veggies to taste, they hear a soft voice behind them. It's a friendly rabbit named Rosie, who is the guardian of the magical clearing.

"Hello, young ones! I see you've found my special garden," says Rosie, her whiskers twitching with delight.

Oliver and Lily smile at Rosie, feeling a little shy but very excited to meet her.

"We're Oliver and Lily, and we love exploring new places!" says Oliver, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Rosie chuckles softly. "I'm pleased to meet you both, Oliver and Lily. Would you like to try some of the fruits and vegetables from my garden?"

Oliver and Lily nod eagerly, their mouths watering at the thought of tasting the fresh produce.

Rosie leads them around the garden, showing them the different fruits and vegetables. She explains how each one grows and why they are good for their bodies.

"Strawberries are sweet and full of vitamins that make your body strong," Rosie explains, plucking a ripe strawberry from the vine.

"And carrots help you see in the dark because they're full of something called vitamin A!" Lily exclaims, holding up a crunchy carrot.

Oliver's eyes widen in amazement. "Wow, I didn't know food could do all that!"

Rosie smiles warmly. "Nature provides us with everything we need to be healthy and happy. It's important to eat a variety of foods to keep our bodies strong and full of energy."

Oliver and Lily listen intently, their tummies rumbling with hunger and excitement.

After their magical adventure in the garden, Oliver and Lily say goodbye to Rosie and skip back home, their hearts full of newfound knowledge and joy.

When they arrive home, they look at the snacks they have brought with them. Instead of reaching for the crisps and chocolate bars, they decide to try something different.

Oliver slices up some juicy apples while Lily washes some plump strawberries. They arrange their fruity feast on a plate and sit down together to enjoy their wholesome snack.

As they savour the fresh, juicy fruits, Oliver and Lily feel a burst of energy and happiness. They realise that healthy food can be just as tasty and satisfying as their usual snacks.

From that day on, Oliver and Lily make a promise to each other and themselves. They promise to eat more fruits and vegetables every day and to explore new foods together.

And so, in their little village nestled between green hills and meadows, Oliver and Lily embark on a delicious and nutritious food adventure, discovering the wonders of healthy eating one bite at a time.

And they live happily and healthily ever after.

The end.

A Day at School

"Fun and Learning"

Every morning, when the sun peeks through the curtains, it's time for Amy to start her day. She wakes up at 7 o'clock, yawns, and stretches her arms before hopping out of bed. It's a new day, and she's excited to see her friends and learn new things at school.

After washing her face and brushing her teeth, Amy gets dressed in her school uniform. She puts on her blue jumper and checks her timetable pinned to the fridge. Today is Monday, and she has a busy day ahead.

At 8 o'clock, Amy's mum prepares a hearty breakfast of toast and jam. Amy munches happily, chatting about the adventures she hopes to have at school.

At 8:30, Amy grabs her backpack and heads out the door with her mum. They walk hand in hand to school, chatting about the birds chirping in the trees and the fluffy clouds drifting across the sky.

At 9 o'clock, the bell rings, and Amy rushes to her classroom. Mrs. Brown, her teacher, welcomes the class with a warm smile. They start the day with Maths. Amy loves counting and adding numbers, feeling proud when she gets the answers right.

At 10 o'clock, it's time for English. Mrs. Brown reads a story about a brave princess who saves her kingdom from an evil dragon. Amy listens with wide eyes, imagining herself as the hero of the story.

At 11 o'clock, the bell rings for break time. Amy and her friends run outside to the playground, where they swing on the swings and play tag. Amy's best friend, Tom, challenges her to a race around the track, and they dash off, laughing and cheering.

At 12 o'clock, it's lunchtime. Amy unpacks her lunchbox and finds a delicious sandwich, a juicy apple, and a crunchy carrot. She shares her snacks with Tom and they chat about their favourite games and cartoons.

At 1 o'clock, it's time for Science. Amy and her classmates gather around the table as Mrs. Brown sets up an experiment. They mix vinegar and baking soda, watching as it fizzes and bubbles. Amy's eyes sparkle with wonder as she learns about chemical reactions.

At 2 o'clock, it's Art class. Amy picks up a paintbrush and dips it into pots of bright colours. She paints a picture of a sunny day at the beach, with sandcastles and seashells scattered along the shore.

At 3 o'clock, the final bell rings, signalling the end of the school day. Amy packs up her things and waves goodbye to her friends and teachers. She skips out of the classroom, her heart full of joy and excitement.

As Amy walks home with her mum, she chatters about all the fun things she did at school. They stop at the park on the way home, swinging on the swings and playing catch.

When they arrive home, Amy helps her mum with dinner, stirring the pot and setting the table. They sit down together to eat, talking and laughing about their day.

After dinner, Amy snuggles up in bed with her favourite book, drifting off to sleep with dreams of the adventures that await her tomorrow.

THE LUCKY LEPRECHAUN'S QUEST - READING COMPREHENSION SKILL

Hi there!!!

What's up?

It's time to read the following story about a lucky leprechaun.

This is a reading comprehension activity to improve the reading and writing skills in english language.

THE LUCKY LEPRECHAUN'S QUEST

Once upon a time, in the rolling green hills of Ireland, there lived a mischievous leprechaun named Lucky. Lucky was no ordinary leprechaun – he had a heart as big as his emerald green hat and a twinkle in his eye that sparkled like a pot of gold.

Lucky lived in a cozy little cottage nestled amidst the lush meadows, surrounded by fields of clover and babbling brooks. He spent his days crafting shoes for the fairies and dancing beneath the rainbow's arch, spreading joy wherever he went.

One bright morning, as Lucky was tending to his garden of shamrocks, he heard a faint cry for help coming from the forest. Curious and concerned, Lucky followed the sound until he stumbled upon a tiny creature trapped beneath a fallen branch.

It was a wee fairy named Fiona, her delicate wings shimmering in the sunlight. Fiona had lost her way while exploring the forest and had gotten herself into quite a pickle. Lucky quickly came to her rescue, using his magic to lift the heavy branch and set her free.

Grateful and relieved, Fiona thanked Lucky with a sprinkle of fairy dust, promising him a reward beyond his wildest dreams. Intrigued by her offer, Lucky asked what she meant, his eyes gleaming with curiosity.

Fiona explained that every year on St. Patrick's Day, the great Oak of Wishes in the heart of the enchanted forest granted one wish to the purest of heart. It was said that whoever found the four-leaf clover hidden beneath its branches would be granted their heart's desire.

Lucky's heart skipped a beat at the thought of such magic and wonder. Determined to find the four-leaf clover and make his wish come true, he set off on a grand adventure through the enchanted forest, with Fiona by his side.

Together, they journeyed through moss-covered groves and winding pathways, dodging mischievous sprites and playful pixies along the way. They crossed babbling brooks and climbed towering trees, following the whispers of the wind and the laughter of the woodland creatures.

As they ventured deeper into the forest, Lucky and Fiona encountered all manner of magical beings – from wise old owls to mischievous elves. Each one offered a clue to the whereabouts of the elusive four-leaf clover, guiding them ever closer to their destination.

Finally, after many twists and turns, they reached the clearing where the great Oak of Wishes stood tall and proud, its branches reaching up to the heavens. Beneath its ancient roots lay a carpet of emerald green, sprinkled with dewdrops and clover blossoms.

With bated breath, Lucky and Fiona searched the forest floor, their eyes scanning every inch for a glimpse of the legendary four-leaf clover. And there, nestled among the blades of grass, shimmering in the dappled sunlight, they found it – a tiny treasure of luck and magic.

With a joyful cry, Lucky plucked the four-leaf clover from the ground, holding it aloft for all to see. And as he made his wish, the forest erupted in a symphony of laughter and song, celebrating the magic of St. Patrick's Day.

In that moment, surrounded by friends old and new, Lucky closed his eyes and made his wish – a wish for happiness, love, and endless adventures to come. And as the sun set on the enchanted forest, he knew that his wish had already come true.

For in the heart of Ireland, where the shamrocks bloom and the rivers run with gold, there is always magic to be found – especially on St. Patrick's Day.

And so, with a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his lips, Lucky the leprechaun danced beneath the stars, his heart full of wonder and gratitude for the beauty of the world around him.

For in the end, the greatest treasure of all is not found in pots of gold or hidden gems, but in the simple joys of friendship, love, and the magic of believing in dreams.

And with that, as the moon rose high in the sky and the stars shone bright, Lucky and Fiona disappeared into the night, their laughter echoing through the forest, forever bound by the spirit of St. Patrick's Day.

And so, dear friends, remember this tale of Lucky the leprechaun and his quest for the four-leaf clover, for in every heart lies the power to make wishes come true – especially on St. Patrick's Day.
