 This is an brief and clear explanation:




The simple past tense is one of the most common tenses in English. Its form is the same with all subjects. It is usually formed by adding (-ED) to the verb.
 
The simple past is created simply by adding (-ED). However, with some verbs, you need to change the ending a little. Here are the rules:

PRONUNCIATION   (-ED)


When we refer to regular verbs in English, we add (-ed) to the end of the verb. So, we have to take in account that depending the consonant of the regular verb, the past tense will be pronounced in different ways, for instance:
